We went here 3x in one week because it was the perfect lunch. Saying that, the most memorable thing we bought was the brioche cinnamon roll, not too sweet and the perfect amount of cinnamon. Don't miss the chicken salad with cherries or the egg salad. The bread is superb and they have a dark sunflower bread which is the best moistest dark bread I've ever had, and goes very well with the chicken or egg salads! Then there is the staff, incredibly pleasant and accommodating. Would like to see Izze drinks here !

So many of our favorite places in Door County have closed, it is nice to discover a new great place for lunch!

We stopped by before closing and the hospitality was amazing. We were able to try all of the tasty breads and came home with a whole car load! Highly suggest stopping and giving it a try!

We were up in Door County not too long ago and had discovered this little gem. We decided to take a chance and try the food. Wow...good food and even better bread. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with the amazing aroma of fresh baked bread. For lunch we both got a soup/sandwich combo: split pea soup with a ham sandwich and tomato bisque with grilled cheese. Both combos were delicious and didn't make it a rough decision to come back here to eat again. This is the place you go to when you want EXCELLENT, freshly baked artisan bread! Prices are a little steep but the bread is definitely worth it.

WE love this place. Located in the Heart of Egg Harbor tucked just east of highway 42 and south of County E... I recommend their Door County Chicken salad sandwich. I love it on any of their home made breads. I have been coming for a few years now and just love sharing it with friends. They have 1/2 sandwiches available for a lighter appetite... but my husband and I split one and it is just right for a light lunch. My husband tried the Tuna and loved that, We went back several times on our last visit. The bread is delicious and the location has plenty of parking. You can sit inside or outdoors under the shade of the trees. Be sure to stop when you are in Door County. Stop for Lunch, to eat in or take... and grab a loaf of their bread while you are there. You will be glad you did and you will be a return customer like we are! 2 thumbs up!

Very good bread. We bought day-old cinnamon raisin and have been cherishing every bite. They also had samples of their door county cherry cranberry bread out and that was tasty as well. Also bought a day old semolina loaf...very tough crust, but a good crumb and it made for tasty French toast in the morning. We got there late in the day so our choices were very limited. So for best selection, arrive earlier than 2 pm.

I stopped in here based on Yelp reviews. I had the turkey sandwich which was just about the same as you'd get elsewhere. The price is high for what you get. Be prepared to pay far more than what it's worth because of the location and the seasonality of business in Door County. Based on reviews, I asked for a sample of the hippie bread. It was delish and as another reviewer noted, I bought bread even though I don't keep bread at home! I do appreciate culinary artists and it is evident here in the goods. Long day at Murphy Park with many hours drive home so did not have time or place to enjoy the cookies or folded pie sweet treats. All in all would stop in again to try additional items but am not convinced upon a first try that this is a top tier place.

A great lunch spot where you'll get amazing sandwiches on artisan bread. Their menu was small and located on a cute little board near the register. I ended up ordering a hot ham and cheese sandwich and my husband had a turkey sandwich. We ended up trading halves so we could each try both for lunch. Both were yummy, but I think the ham and cheese edged out the turkey simply by the sharp cheddar cheese they used. Portion size was good, and each sandwich came with a bag of chips. We sat outside on the small front porch to eat, and it was lovely. As we were leaving, one of the owners asked how our food was. I thought that was so sweet to be asked. We told her how much we enjoyed the food and thanked her. We were in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't get to try any of the fresh bread , but I really wish I had.

This is must stop for lunch. The sandwiches are fantastic and setting is great to just relax after long day. If you want a little sweets go for blueberry scone. You can eat great food sitting in comfortable seats outside under shady trees. Don't miss this place!

What a disappointment. Surprisingly unwelcoming service, no choice of breads for sandwiches, and no lettuce and tomato as advertised. First and last visit, there are way better places to eat in DC.

This little breadsmith is beyond perfect. The warm welcome is wonderful. I always want to buy something, whether I need a loaf or not. The fact is I know that they have a great thing going here, making superior artisanal breads and baked goods, and they're doing it all with a smile. They offer you a taste of the daily loaves, and you are then stumped by what to purchase. Everything is delicious. I am partial to the hippie bread that is full of seeds and grains. With its name and its ingredients, I feel like I am not indulging. Rather, I feel like I'm enjoying wholesome, baked-with-love food. You feel the love that comes from the proprietors. I will return here again and again, especially for my new favorite, the raspberry scone. It is gnarly looking with its cobblestone exterior, packing the crunch of a biscuit. The interior is soft, chewy and slightly sweet. I am that much more excited to return in August to try the blueberry one!

I had an OUT OF THIS WORLD cherry chicken salad sandwich on sunflower flax bread. The portions were very generous, and the bread was amazingly moist. I also had their creamy tomato soup, with some fresh parmesan chucks of cheese in it! Mmmm-mmm! I've been here before, and will definitely be back. I tell my friends and family to be sure to make it a stop when they travel in Door County. The married couple who run the place (and make the bread, etc.) add to the pleasant ambiance. You can sense their love and enthusiasm for what they do.

Really friendly service, AMAZING bread, and excellent sandwiches. The chicken salad sandwich was terrific, and the soup of the day (chicken noodle) hit the spot in a breezy autumn day. Lovely place to stop for a quick bite!

Would give no stars if I could. Came here to visit the town, perhaps even go into their place. We parked in a SHARED lot next to their place. As we were walking away the RUDE owner (I presumed) starts screaming at us to move our car....that it's his own private lot. Excuse me, it's a SHARED lot with the Cupola House which is right next to them. We later verified this with the owner of Cupola House. We said we were not aware of any signage indicating the "private lot"....we then said, well maybe we won't come to your place for lunch. Which in response the RUDE owner said only people from Illinois seem to have a problem with this. Well then...if it weren't for "people from Illinois" coming to visit your small towns you wouldn't even exist.....so RUDE.......don't go there. By the way....there were like 40 open parking spaces......

Nothing is open in Door County in March. All the signs (well, most of them, anyway) say, 'reopening ... " fill in the date. In other words, sorry, we're in Florida, resting up for the upcoming tourist season in Door County. Ah, but a few are open. And among them are some gems. THIS is a gem. This husband/wife bakery team was the winner of our three day trip to the peninsula this week. They eclipsed a fine meal at Coopers Corner in Fish Creek and equaled the excellent gelato at Jo-Jo's in Sister Bay. They win because they are just such NICE people. We stopped here on our way home to Chicago and I am kicking myself for not stopping on the way in. The shop is the warm, inviting bakery you'd expect, the heavenly smell of it is just the BEST, and the racks and bakery case are full of the most beautiful (and tasty) breads and baked goods you could ask for. We left with buns, dark, dense, chewy pumpernickel bread, French and wheat loaves, and cinnamon rolls. Yesterday. And, already, I'm longing to go back. Pros: just about everything. Nicest couple ever. Great products. Inviting surroundings. More than just bread, so don't be put off by their 'bread only' appearance. Cons: Yes, Door County is pricey. Accept that and the prices here at the bakery are easier to swallow (pun intended). I'm not used to paying seven dollars for a loaf of bread, but in this case, it is WORTH IT.

Top notch breads and baked goods. We got a loaf of the Italian bread and was great with some olive oil for dipping. The apple muffins are great for a breakfast treat or a snack on the go. Definitely stop in for something sweet and a spot to sit and relax.

This place is the best. My wife and I were in Door County for the week and looking for a place to grab a sandwich. What a delight. The Happy Hippie bread is so so good. We got a veggie sandwich on the hippie bread. Very fresh. One the way home we made sure to stop and pick up a loaf of Happy Hippie bread and 2 veggie sandwiches to go. Make sure you check this place out.
